We are exceptionally proud to announce that our Portland team has achieved the Accredited Quality Contractor (AQC) accreditation by Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC)! While our teams have historically been involved with our local ABC chapters, this marks the first year Deacon has received this prestigious honor, underscoring our core purpose to continually seek growth for our company and provide unlimited opportunities for our people. We’re thrilled to join this elite group of only 525 merit-shop construction contractors across the country who earned this credential as of 2023.

The AQC credential relies on five pillars defining industry excellence:

• Quality
• Health and safety performance
• Talent management, with a focus on inclusion, diversity, and merit
• Craft and management education
• Community relations

The AQC credential, established more than 30 years ago, recognizes contractors who demonstrate a proven commitment to these principles. On average, AQC recipients achieve incident rates nearly six times safer than the industry average.

As part of the AQC program, Deacon is committed to maintaining industry-leading safety practices and has previously achieved recognition at the Platinum and Diamond levels in ABC’s STEP Safety Management System. The STEP framework, established in 1989, helps contractors measure and benchmark safety performance.

AQC membership is recognized by the Construction Users Roundtable (CURT) and qualifies Deacon for inclusion on ABC’s Top Performers lists, which spotlight the industry’s leading contractors.

Founded in 1950, Associated Builders and Contractors is a national trade association representing over 23,000 members. ABC supports its members in developing skilled professionals, winning projects, and delivering work safely and profitably, contributing to the betterment of communities across the nation.
